RCPTT is not working with 201906 platform [message #1809949]

Hello

I am trying to use RCPTT installed in a 201906 developpement environment to test a eclipse product based on 201906 platform.
I encountered two kinds of problems
My installation:
* From a "Eclipse IDE for Eclipse Committers" 201906
* I installed RCPTT 2.4.2 from the update site https://download.eclipse.org/rcptt/release/2.4.2/repository

First issue:
* I have a launch config that starts an eclipse based on 201906 Target Platform
* When starting the EAUT I get the following message in a dialog box:
Title:AUT Connection Error
Message : Invalid eclipse target platform: New_configuration with RCPTT

Second issue:
* I created a new AUT referencing a product based on eclipse oxygen to check that the issue was related to testing a 201906 AUT
* When launching the EAUT, it starts correctly but I keep having the Progress monitor in the eclipse where I started the EAUT and it is stuck with the message "Starting virtual machine"
Then I can't start my RCPTT suite.
Note that if I start directly my RCPTT suite which starts the EAUT, the suite is not started neither.

Questions:
* Any hint? workaround? ;)
* Otherwise I feel that that the 2.4.2 version is not suitable for 201906 platform. Is it the case? Is the targeted 2.5.0 version suitable? But is the 2.5.0 nightly version stable enough to be use as of now?

I get the same error when starting RCPTT in development environment in eclipse 2019-06. I also have the official RCPTT release from eclipse 2019-06 update site.

The error says 'failed to detect platform version'..

I followed what was suggested in this discussion thread:
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=538719

and looked up the source code for org.eclipse.rcptt.launching.ext.AUTInformation.putSwtVersion() but it seems like the code has been fixed to support enough SWT versions, so that cannot be the problem.

Does anyone have any hint on a workaround for this error?

I switched to 2.5.0.201908070003 Nightly and everything seems to work just fine
