Hello everybody.
I would like to know if there is plan to upgrade the CKeditor version used in the Richtext component. We are interested by the last release, CKEditor 5, which provides a new mode "Ballon mode" https://ckeditor.com/ckeditor-5-builds/#balloon, to integrate it is Papyrus.

Regards,

Hi Vincent,

I have currently no plans to work on the RichText component, as I am pretty busy with other tasks at the moment. Therefore I suppose nobody plans to update the CKEditor version.

If you plan to contribute this, you need to consider that the new CKEditor version needs to be approved by the IP team, like we did for the current used version. Once approved the code needs to be replaced in the RichText sources and then well tested to see if there are major changes that break the current integration. Dependent on how much the CKEditor guys changed in the basic structure this might be not a small task.

Hi Vincent,

If you plan to work on this, please file a bug and supply a patch through Gerrit. We will support you.

Cheers,

Wim

The Papyrus team created such a ticket already in the past for a minor CKEditor update. So there is no need for a new ticket. Just an update to the existing one.
