Easiest way to build Eclipse IDE (JAVA) on my local PC [message #1784206] Fri, 23 March 2018 10:01 Go to next message

Hi,

I had a difficulty in finding an easy way to build "Eclipse IDE for JAVA programming" on my local PC.

First of all, which source code should I use?
Furthermore, it would be great if anyone could provide me with easy steps to do so.

Thanks in advance

The EPP project produces the downloadable packages, such as "IDE for Java Developers." You can take a look at the project git repo here: http://git.eclipse.org/c/epp/org.eclipse.epp.packages.git/tree/
The README file there has some instructions for building packages locally. Further questions should be directed at the EPP project directly.

Many of the projects have Oomph setups so that instructions similar to these can be used to set up a development environment with the sources of those projects:

In the end though, your goal is pretty ambitious in that many dozens of Git repositories are involved in producing something like the Java IDE package. Do you have some more specific goal in mind? I.e., what are you hoping to accomplish by doing this?
