Eclipse Kura Vs Smarthome [message #1757851] Mon, 20 March 2017 12:25 Go to next message

Hello,
I am relatively new to the IoT concepts and industry and I want to know which of the above is better suited for starting to develop for IoT.
The hardware items I have are : Raspberry Pi 2, some analogical sensors(nothing fancy).
First of all, I want to capture all the sensors data. Then I want to develop a web/mobile application which will display the values captured from the sensors.
Can you please tell me which one of Kura/Smarthome should I use for this simple purpose?

Regards,
Andrei

Hello Adrei,

Kura and Smarthome are similar in architecture, but target different goals. Smarthome's main goal is to ease the development of smart home applications. They have numerous adapters for communicating with devices commonly found in smart homes. Kura's focus is more on implementing industry standard protocols (serial, Modbus, OPC-UA, etc.) and providing remote device and data management.

For analog inputs, both frameworks would likely work, but I think Kura may be more inline with what you describe.

Thanks,
