I'm involved with an open-source project that is already pretty well functionally complete, and somewhat complex. I'm actively looking for one or two people to help contribute to this project, in any practical way.
The project is an Eclipse plugin for viewing and editing source files in a custom specification language called "Yang", which is used for defining data models for software-defined networking (SDN) and network function virtualization (NFV) (semantics are very similar to CORBA IDL, although the syntax looks very much like Groovy DSL). The project currently integrates somewhat with the OpenDaylight framework, which is a Java framework for providing a SDN controller.
Again, the project is mostly functionally complete, but there are issues with it, and the original authors are not really available anymore. This is exacerbated by the fact that there is virtually no "developer-level" documentation for the project. The code itself appears to be quite clean, however.
The project currently resides at https://github.com/xored/yang-ide . This codebase will eventually be cloned into the OpenDaylight git repo. The issues that I'm concerned about are all described in the github issues for the project, although I'm most concerned about Issue 57.
If you're interested, and you believe you're qualified, just contact me, or you could just comment on issues or submit PRs. I don't have merge rights there, but I'll notice if something is submitted.

David,
Better would be to post this on the eclipse.employment forum.
