I am unable to successfully built BIRT 2.1RC4. I was also not able to
successfully build BIRT2.1RC3, but got further with RC4 than RC3. This is
an extremely frustrating process.
I am able to build BIRT 2.0 with no problems, but the solutions for 2.1
are a black hole.
I start by downloading the 2.1RC4 all-in-one solution. Then, I connect to
CVS and check out all the source files for 2.1RC4. Then I close the test
projects, close the flat file driver projects, and add iText.jar to the
com.lowagie.itext plugin.
When I try to compile, I get over a thousand errors. There are many errors
of the type "assert cannot be resolved". These are really annoying and
probably mask my other problems. I don't know how to turn them off. My
compiler settings are set for 1.4.
I also saw one email from Jason that said "I also had to add a dependency
to org.eclipse.birt.report.designer.ui to the
org.eclipse.birt.report.debug.ui plugin to get it to build.", but I don't
understand how or what that actually gets done.
