My plug-in has two kinds of markers, that differ from each other (AFAIK)
only in that one has permanent="yes" and the other has permanent="no" in
plugin.xml.
The permanent ones always show up in the overview ruler (right of edit
text). The temporary ones _sometimes_ show up in the overview ruler.
This seems to be independent of the preferences setting (the latter are
always warning level markers).
I have two problems: I want the latter to always show up, and I want the
_sometimes_ aspect of this to go away!
For a long while, when I installed my plug-in in Eclipse and launched, I
might or might not see the markers in the overview ruler, but when I
launched in PDE I always saw them. Now I don't see them in either mode.
Voodoo, I guess!
Thanks for any insight on whatever dumb mistake I am making.
Bob
PS When I went to debug this just now I discovered markers showing up again
in PDE launch! What can cause such seemingly random behavior?

Good advice, ordinarily. Unfortunately, I use MarkerUtilities.createMarker()
to make the markers and it uses an IWorkspaceRunnable. Markers still don't
show up in an ordinary launch but do (now) in a PDE launch.

Or sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. What a random mess!
