What steps do I take to setup a default Eclipse install for developing webapps? I know nothing about Eclipse at this point so would be interested in howto's, guides, or tutorials on the subject.

I am quite familiar with Netbeans and webapp development but noticed that Eclipse does not come stocked with any web servers or libs.

If there are any gurus out there, what steps do you take to trick out your environment when starting with a default installation?

Thanks,

L.K.

Loren,

You need the Web Tools Platform (WTP) which is an additional set of
functions that yopu must install on top of your base Eclipse. these
extra functions are delivered as a set of plugins.

There two things you can do that will get you to WTP: You can download
the all-in-one WTP package from the eclipse website, or you can use the
Eclipse update manager to upgrade an existing eclipse.

Go to http://download.eclipse.org/webtools/downloads/ and the two
options are described and offered to you from there.

Thank you very much Chris.

Interestingly, I have tried using the update feature and the update process consistantly fails. Then I try downloading the all-in-one package and I always get a message "Unable to connect to database server at this time." Total bummer, eh?

This has been going on for a few days now but I will keep trying. I must be hitting the site during maintainence hours or something.
