Hi all,

I was really hoping I had found an IDE to settle with, but it seems that Eclipse
crashes if you sneeze. So far, it has crashed 3 times, and I've only been using
it for a week or so. By crash, I mean the whole thing closes and I get a dialog
with something like:
JVM terminated. Exit code=1
/usr/bin/java
-Xms40m
-Xmx256m
-jar /usr/local/eclipse/startup.jar
-os linux
-ws gtk
-arch x86
-launcher /usr/local/eclipse/eclipse
-name Eclipse
-showsplash 600
-exitdata 1370010
-vm /usr/bin/java
-vmargs
-Xms40m
-Xmx256m
-jar /usr/local/eclipse/startup.jar

Once, it crashed when I was scrolling through a file to go to a compile error.
The other 2 were while running in the debugger. The only thing that changes in
the dialog is the -exitdata #, but that doesn't mean anything to me. I've heard
Java programs are prone to crashes - I wonder if this is a result. Does anyone
else experience this? If not, any ideas what the problem might be?

thanks,
Jason

Hi Jason,

eclipse has been pretty nice and stable for me both on WinXP and Linux.
Though a colleague of mine experienced a reproducable crash of the kind you
are describing and we finally agreed that it was probably his peculiar
combination of Java VM, GTK version and graphics adapter ...

Maybe it would be helpful if you could post your OS, Java VM and eclipse
versions?

Bye
