What happened to the overview panel. I recall that it had to go due to
the move to native scrolling or something like that. Is there any plans
to revive it.

Thanks

We're in the process of resurrecting the overview. The Thumbnail class was
redesigned and is currently being tested.

It would help to know what everyone expects. Some products place the
overview window in the dead space between the horizontal and vertical
scrollbars. But this only works if you actually have both scrollbars
visible, otherwise that space doesn't exist. So this might not work for an
HTML or text-based document.

I was thinking that we could put the Overview window at the bottom of the
palette, but some applications don't have a palette.

Until we reach a concensus, we will provide an overview figure that should
be placed on a Canvas other than the ScrollingGraphicalViewer's canvas. We
will demonstrate one type of placement in the Logic example.

We would like to have it the old way. Isn't it possible provide both
solutions? What do you mean by HTML or text-based documents? I thought you
only provide graphical editors for graphical content. Is it possible to
build a text editor with GEF? Isn't it some kind of redundance because of
the jface text editor?

I think this is probably the best choice anyway. I don't think you can
please everybody all the time, so I'd prefer to let individual
developers make their own choices.
