Hello, I'm new at Eclipse and so this message may be premature, but here it
is anyway.
1) Is there a web interface where I can search the newsgroup archives? The
only way I was able to get in was through Outlook Express, and it's
searching is rather limited. I tried groups.google.com, but it appears to
be limited - I searched for "editor", and it returned only 3 messages in
Eclipse-Users-Group-Beginners
2) I'm primarily using Eclipse with editing ColdFusion & CSS files, but
others as well. Besides editing code, the most frequent task is to switch
between open documents. Quick keyboard access is important, and I find the
most-recently-used concept too confusing -- if I have several documents and
I see that the next one on the tab order is where I want to go, it would be
nice to do one key combination to get there, but in Eclipse I never know
where I'm going to end up.
An alternative would be to use the Editor List plugin, but I don't see any
easy way to assign a key combination to get there, and I don't see a way to
use the keyboard to edit a document selected here.
3) From home I'm using FTP edit remote files, and works great as long as I'm
keeping the connection alive. If I let it timeout, and then try to save
something, I just get errors. Is there some way to avoid this?

There are:
Ctrl+(Shift)+F6 - Most recently used list (I know, you don't want this -
just for completeness)
Ctrl+Page{Up/Down} - linearly cycle through the open tabs (I guess this
is what you are looking for)
Ctrl+Q - last edit location
Alt+Arrow_{Left/Right} - back and forward in editor location history
Ctrl+E - show editor list, type to filter the list

Yes, this does help. Ctrl+Page Up/Down keys do work, but for some reason I
don't see them in the list under Window > Preferences > Keys, and so I
didn't know they were there. I don't know that I would need to change the
key combinations, but how would I if the function is not listed?
Many thanks.

AFAIK, Ctrl+Page Up/Down are the "native" SWT behavior for tab books and
do not go through the usual command framework...
