Hello all.
Should be a trivial problem.
Was doing some work, attempted to delete a project.
Had another window active in one of the project subdirectories.
So eclipse reported that that projected couldnt be deleted.
Closed eclipse.
Used Windows Explorer to navigate to workspace and delete the offending
directory.
Now I am trying to recreate the a project with same name.
Eclipse continues to report that the project still exists.
What file contains the meta information on the projects ?
Once found, can I textpad edit it and remove the offending entries that
are fooling eclipse into thinking the phantom project still exists ?
Thanks for any guidance.

I had the same problem, only I was trying to rename a project (earlier
thread "Refactoring (renaming) a project").
I solved it by:
"
I closed the current project.
I then RMB in the Package Explorer and clicked on Refresh. Got a warning
message the the old project did not exist, did I want to delete the
reference. Clicked on Yes, and now the old project is gone.
"
I did not get an answer as to where the phantom name was stored. I did
all sorts of searches in the file system and the Windows registry for
the old name. I can only assume that it is stored in binary format, not
as plain text.
