Hi
I'd like to use Eclipse for an existing, quite large project in C++, which
is based on a completely handwritten make-environment. (no IDEs in use etc)
I've noticed that Eclipse doesn't do a whole lot without a project. So I
created a dummy-project and wanted to specify some directories where
Eclipse should look for classes - but w/o copying all of the stuff to its
environment. That doesn't seem to be possible though.
Basically I'd like to use Eclipse as an alternative editor with ctags-like
support. But it seems to me, that Eclipse is pretty useless if the whole
project is not an Eclipse project. Or am I missing something?
Ideas? Comments? Shrieking epitaphs?
Daniel

You can create a project without needing to copy everything to your eclipse
workspace.
You can create an external project or you can use linked resources.
For a discussion, see:

Have you looked at CDT? It has support for existing projects with makefiles.
