Hi!

Is it possible to change the internal browser in Eclipse on Windows XP from
IE to Mozilla Firefox?

Unfortunately, no. See https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=79213

Thanks. I was searching the Bugzilla database for "Firefox".

This issue was added 1,5 years ago.

Do you have any sense or knowledge on the issues other than what is told in
the comments?

Regards,
Jimisola

Under Window->Preferences, under General->WebBrowser, you have the
ability to tell Eclipse not to use its internal browser and instead
choose and "system-located" browser like IE or Firefox. I keep this set
on Firefox myself in Eclipse v3.1.2.

I'm guessing your really wanting to know how to actually change
Eclipse's internal browser, rather than just telling Eclipse what
browser you want it to use when it needs one.

Then again, isn't Eclipse's "internal" browser something "internal"
rather than externally using IE?

On Windows, Eclipse’s internal browser is an IE stub. I forgot what it
was on Linux, but I think it is a Mozilla stub.

Replace the internal browser with Konqueror if you don't have firefox or
mozilla.
You go to the Windows/Preferences.
In the Help selection change the default 'Current External Web Browser
Adapter' from mozilla to
kfmclient openProfile webbrowsing
Then click Ok.
Konkeror will use the Help server and properly display help.

Thanks, but I guess that would work on my Linux machine but I was asking
about my Windows XP machine.

Hi!

I found the preference that you pointed to, but the Help still uses IE.
It doesn't matter if I set web browser to Firefox explicitly or implicity by
setting it to Windows default which is Firefox.
