Scope and Status of the EBR Project? [message #1239162]

Hi All,

I wanted to find out the real scope of EBR. Will it be recipies only or is there a wish and will to host a maven/ivy repo similar to springsource ebr? It is becoming fairly hard to find osgified bundles or even eclipse artifacts in proper versions out in public maven repos. EBR would be a perfect opportunity to rectify that situation as well as potentially getting some of the internal eclipse projects into sanctioned public facing repositories.

In any case - what is the status of the project? Is there a will to drive it further? Do you need help, if so I am willing to lend a hand.

Hi Dmitry,

Not sure if you were following the news and the discussion on the
mailing list. EBR got stalled to the point where the RT PMC thought of
terminating it. However, I'm in the process of rebooting the project.

It can only be the recipies on Eclipse.org infrastructure. But I hope
to find someone supporting/sponsoring of hosting all the binaries
somewhere in the open.

Once the project is rebooted, we definitely need help producing high
quality recipes. Also if you have any questions, please don't hesitate
reaching out.

Have you found such a place? With impending shutdown of springsource ebr and lack of osgi metadata in spring artifacts it makes me concerned for gemini-blueprint and virgo as those two projects make heavy use of spring.

The EBR project will not provide a repository of OSGi bundles. It just contains a collection of recipes.

You can clone the Git repository and build bundles yourself.
 
FWIW, I've created a proof-of-concept that consumes the recipes and publishes bundles on oss.jfrog.org Maven repository.
