Missing method tooltip snippets [message #1405997] Fri, 08 August 2014 14:29
Eclipse UserFriend
I use Eclipse at home and work, but certain tool tips are either missing or disable at work. If I am editing a Java source file and type the name of a String variable followed by a dot, a pop-up comes up listing all of the methods and class variables I have access to. At home I also get a snippet of Javadoc or other text as I highlight one of the methods or variables on the pop-up. At work, the pop-up appears but not the snippets. In a post elsewhere it was suggested that I needed the java source zip file src.zip in the JRE directory of my Java installation. Its there but no snippets appear. I also copied it the BIN and top level folders, still no snippets. Does that zip file need to be expanded? Is there an Eclipse setting that turns snippets on/off?
