can anybody let me know how to create an effect similar to the toolbox in
Rational XDE in standalone application.does anybody know how is that

I can only assume that you are aware of the GEF palette. Rational tools
currently use the GEF palette. In a previous release, they used an ActiveX
control which was the Microsoft "palette" or toolbox. The GEF palette serves
the same purpose.
