Performance Problem on Save in 3.0M5 [message #126664] Fri, 12 December 2003 05:48 Go to next message

Hi there,

I just installed Eclipse 3.0M5 on my P4, 2.4Ghz, 512MB, Windows 2000,
jdk 1.4.2_02.
Before that I used 2.1 and was satisfied with the performance.

M5 is very, very slow when I save a file. Even minor changes in a
classes with almost no dependencies locks up my eclipse for about 10
seconds.

I see that tasks are executed "in the background", but the system is not
usable (cursor locks up).
Is there a possibility to adjust the priority for background tasks?

I don't know what acutally happens during this time. I can only see in
the Progress view that at least 1/3 of the time is spent
"Updating synchronization states in the Synchronize view".

How can I find out more information about what is happening?

Are there any options that I could switch on or off to improve the
performance?
For example to disable automatic synchronization?
Or does it make sense to disable some particularly time consuming
Compiler Warnings? Which ones?

Greetings,
Malte

Do you use the filtering options in the problem view? There's a huge
performance problem (i think it's fixed in the current development version).

Sure did.
Switched it of and it works fine now!
Things can be so simple sometimes...
