Hi all,
I have been using Eclipse quite some time.I like to install CDT on Eclipse
did follow the install tutorial found on Google but they both tell you how
to install, but they don't mention if anything if the installation didn't
go right. The CDT news group has many questions about it but still I
couldn't install it.
I downloaded both org.eclipse.cdt.sdk-2.0-win32.win32.x86 = 663
File/Folders
org.eclipse.cdt-2.0-win32.win32.x86 = 556 File/Folders
I unzipped both of them and found out that they have different number of
folders. According to the instructions from the google search I unzipped
one of the files in eclipse folder that also has feature and plugin folder
inside Eclipse. Simply restated Eclipse and looked into Help->About
Eclipse Platform-> Plugin Details but didn't find any addition of the C++
plugins.I repeated the same procedure in my Eclipse 2.1 and I did got all
the C++ plugins in the plugin details but there is no option of creating a
C++ project. So I am not sure how to install the plugin and what to follow
as all the instruction are nearly the same and above all the smart
people(sorry about this)whoever wrote the CDT installation on Eclipse site
never thought that there might be someone who doesn't have internet
connection all the time or for any other reason can't use internet.
Version 3.0.0
Build id: 200406251208
I would really appreciate any pointers on this.
Thanks
Syed

Hello Syed,
some attempts on my own solved the problem partially (under Win XP SP2):
1) I opened the configuration manager (Help -> manage configuration)
- by checking the explorer window of the configuration manager (left
side) I found C/C++ Tools and Tooling Source enabled (but not available
under "New -> project" or "Window -> open perspective")
Both Tools and Tooling Source icons were marked with an "x".
2) I disabled C/C++ Tools and Tooling Source (right click on "C/C++ Dev.
Tooling -> disable" or in the right hand side window)
I let Eclipse restart automatically (click "Yes" when asked)
3) C/C++ issues where still not available in "New -> project" or "Window
-> open perspective" which should be as expected.
I again opened the configuration manager and re-enabled the C/C++ Tools
and Tooling Source plugin.
I again let Eclipse RESTART AUTOMATICALLY (click "Yes" when asked)
4) no change to 3). Bad luck. So I repeated step 2). I also repeated
step 3), but did not select automatic restart of eclipse but only "Apply
changes".
- Now a dialog requesting to reset the perspectives (org.eclipse.cdt.ui)
popped up, clicked on "yes".
- Further dialogs requesting to reset the perspectives
(org.eclipse.cdt.managedbuilder.ui, org.eclipse.cdt.make.ui,
org.eclipse.cdt.debug.ui) popped up, on all I clicked on "yes".
- Now the C/C++ Tools and Tooling Source plugins where enabled but "X"ed.
- Now I closed the configuration manager and restarted eclipse manually.
- C/C++ issues where now AVAILABLE in "New -> project" or "Window ->
open perspective".
- A check in the configuration manager showed that the C/C++ Tools were
ok. but C/C++ Tooling Source was still "X"ed.
- An empty C test project could be created, but I didn't perform any
further actions on this yet.
Maybe these informations are helpful for you.
regards and Good Luck
