Hello,
I'm a CS student. I need to write a Java application. I want to try and
use the Eclipse IDE. I'm new to Linux and to Eclipse. I'm looking for a
detailed and easy-to-follow "for dummies" Eclipse installation
instructions, similar, for instance, to the NetBeans IDE 4.1 installation
instructions at
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/install_jdk1_5_05-nb41_all.ht ml . Is there
a similar online instructions available for Eclipse? If so, please let me
know of its URL.
Questions i'd like these instructions to answer:
1) What exactly should i download, where can i download it from, the name
of the link(s) i should click to set the download process in action, and
to what library i should save the download(s)?
2) What steps should i follow to install the downloads?
3) How do i verify, that the installation(s) was (were) successful?
4) What initial configurations do i need to make, in order to be able to
begin using Eclipse, where "using Eclipse" means actively reading through
the tutorial at
https://eclipse-tutorial.dev.java.net/eclipse-tutorial/part1 .html ?
Respectfully,
Itay

How about buying 'Eclipse for Dummies' By Barry Burd. It is an excellent
guide to the core IDE. It does not cover the plug ins though
