shortcut to always shows the javadoc [message #111058] Mon, 24 October 2005 08:27 Go to next message

Hi!

I know there is F2 to show the javadoc of a method/field.
But if there is an annontation/error-message this message will be shown
instead of the javadoc.

What options do I have to change this?
Is there a way to configure another shortcut to get this javadoc popup -
preferably ctrl-q (quick javadoc in idea ;-) )

If not, where is the place to spell out the wish.

Thanks!

Mario,

Have you considered using the Javadoc view? (Window->Show View->Javadoc)

You can open feature requests for Eclipse at http://bugs.eclipse.org/

In fact I didnt.

It turns out this is even cooler as I didnt have to press any shortcut
at all - Great.

Thanks!

No need to file a feature request, as it is already there: apart from
the Javadoc view, you can go to Window -> Preferences -> Java -> Editor
-> Hovers.

But then I have to use the mouse, which is not a real alternative.

I already began to love the View->javadoc (its funny to soo how it
automatically change its contents only by move the mouse at the method)
but already filed an enhancement request to show the method/field
signature above the javadoc too.
