There will be a session at EclipseCon covering GEF/draw2d. Please post any
topics that you would like to be covered during the 45 minutes session.
There will also be a Q&A period.

I am not attending, but a colleague of mine is. What I would like to
see, anywhere, is a brief list perhaps with pointers to relevant docs,
of all of the "free" or "nearly free" features you can get in
GEF/draw2d. For example, a lot of the apps I have used that use these
toolkits seem to have some common features which suggests that the
framework is providing them. Yet is not obvious how to add them to an
app.

For example ....

1) Many apps seem to provide a thumbnail "overview" in the Outline
view or elsewhere. Very nice for large diagrams.

2) Similar to #1 is printing. First, just "perfect" printing routines
in general, but I also have liked the GEF-based tools I have used that
have options such as scaling the printed output to fit on one page.
How is this done?

3) Providing the ability to scale/zoom the diagram in the editor. (We
actually just figured this one out recently)

I suspect that there is a whole lot of stuff in there that you just
need to do a little work to make use of. A nice summary/overview would
be great.

Randy,

I'm going to try and make this session. What I would be most interested
in is a discussion about GEF's long term plans, priorities, and the
potential impact of these on existing APIs. It would be useful if such a
discussion did not limit itself to the GEF plug-in, but also to supporting
material such as documentation (i.e. are there any plans to release books
documenting GEF - BTW I'm aware of the redbook).

Yeah, I'll second a vote for a product roadmap and priorities. A resource
guide would also be invaluable fow newbies.
