Managed build schema [message #107990] Tue, 29 June 2004 02:34 Go to next message
Eclipse UserFriend
Hello,

I just started with the new Workbench 3.0/CDT 2.0M9 combination.
I'm looking for the schema that supports adding a plug-in to the managed
build extension point. It seems to be missing in CDT 2.0 M9.

Does anyone know what I should do to create a managed build plug-in for
this new configuration?

Thanks,

Marco

Thanks Marco,
It looks like we missed that in the build settings. I will make sure
that it gets added as part of the binary disctribution for the final build.

Sorry Marco,
I should have asked this question originally. Is this the SDK build or
the "normal" binary build that you are using. I believe that we are only
shipping the schema in the SDK, but if you are using that and seeing
this problem I will look into it.

Sean,

Nice to be helpful. There's one more thing worrying me:

CDT 2.0 M9 plug-ins do not appear in my
Preferences|Plug-in Development|TargetPlatform:Plug-ins and Fragments
found list. But the plug-ins are in the plug-ins folder with the plug-ins
that are listed. Could this also be because of the build settings?

Thanks,

Marco Langejans

Sean,

I've downloaded CDT from:
http://update.eclipse.org/tools/cdt/updates/builds/2.0RC1

The product configuration window shows:
Eclipse C/C++ Development Tooling SDK 2.0.0

Marco,
It looks like something is up, I just don't know what yet. Thanks for
bringing this to my attention.

Marco,
I used the zip file and the update site. I don't get the schema in
either case, although I can create a new ManagedBuildInfo extension when
I properly add the dependency on the managedbuilder.core plugin using
the zip distribution.

I'm still looking into why this doesn't seem to work when using the
update site, but this could well be an error between my ears :-)

Do you absolutely need the schema? If so, you can always get it
anonymously from the CVS repository.

Marco,
You have to import the org.eclipse.cdt.source plugin and browse to the
Managed Build Core plugin; the schema is there.

Thanks to Doug Schaefer for pointing me to this,

The CDT version that gave the problem described below is CDT2.0R1,
stepping back to CDT2.0M9 solved the problem.
