Builds fail [message #102766] Sun, 18 September 2005 16:09

I downloaded latest version of eclipse and CDT. Installed, created the
example program in the FAQ and can't get it to work. I am using it on
Windows XP with Mingw. Of course it doesn't like the make program being
called mingw32-make (god knows why they called it that) so I copied it to
make.exe. It sort of tries to do something but it never ever finishes. It
gives me the choice of running in the background which seems a little
excessive for a 5 line program but either way it never ever finishes. If I
try to quit I get a message box telling me that "The user operation is
waiting for "Standard Make Builder" to complete. Its been doing that for
20 minutes. I've searched the mailing list and it seems no one else has
reported this.

Any advice would be appreciated. For example is mingw a complete waste of
time?

Best wishes....
Colin
