I'm trying to install JSDT. But it's more than 5 hours already and it's still in "calculate and check dependancies...". What should I do?

(I tried a few times already.)

Can anybody help?

You're certain you don't already have it? It comes as part of the Java
EE package, and if not, you could download that.

I have exactlty the same problem.

I dont have java EE package as I dont need it and I am stuck as the installer hangs and progress bar doesnt move.

Well, in my case it does not (yet?) hang as I am still searching for some way to install JSDT AT ALL!


    I downloaded MyEclipse Version 2014 Build 12.0.0
    I checked if JSDT is already contained but there is no information at all
    I tried various ways to download JSDT but no success
    This alone has now cost me >3 hrs


The entire information about versions, plus-ins etc is quite lousy and very confusing. For example here: http://www.eclipse.org/webtools/jsdt/ it says JSDT is a PLUG-IN. Thus, I must expect that it is NOT contained in the download.

But there are downloads on the download page but I found no way to add them to my installation.

Has anybody got an idea?

P.S. I am not the only one to have this problem. There are some posting here with the same problem but none yet with a solution.

https://wiki.eclipse.org/WTP_FAQ#How_do_I_install_WTP.3F directs you to the built-in mechanism and update sites in which you'll find JSDT. You should only need to find out which version of Eclipse itself you're using to begin.

You should also be able to contact MyEclipse support for help in the future.
