Eclipse Luna installs ok on Kubuntu 14.04, but new project crashes

I have been an Eclipse user for several years and a c++ user for 15 years on both Linux and Windows.

The Eclipse Luna installation of CDT seemed to progress ok, on Kubuntu 14.04. But when I select new project. Eclipse Luna simply crashes.

Has anyone any suggested cure for this?

Thanks

It is a discrepancy in KDE GTK2 oxygen-gtk theme. There is not a valid return value to the Java dialog box drawing, which causes Java to be unhappy and quit. It seems to me that the previous versions did not check the return value. It took some time to find out ...

From the KDE K menu:

K -> System Settings -> Application Appearance -> GTK -> GTK2 Theme

Select a new theme for GTK2, e.g. Raleigh, apply and exit.
