For me, ISaveablePart2 doesn't work correctly on 3.2M6. The editor is
closed whenever I return ISaveablePart2.CANCEL or ISaveablePart2.NO. The
documentation, however, states that ISaveablePart2.CANCEL should not
close the editor.

I think there's a bug open for that ... bugzilla is down so I can't see
the numbers.

What are you doing? Closing an editor, or closing the workbench?

Closing an editor yields the wrong behaviour. When closing the
workbench, ISaveablePart2 works as it is supposed to.
