Could somebody point to me an good resource about installing PDT. I use
Eclipse with PDT for several months now and the installation is always
pain. Currently I am stuck with PDT wanting org.eclipse.wst (2.0.0) and
the updater has access to WST 1.5.4 only. As far as I saw WST 2 is in
RC2 state. It's kind of inconvenient.
Thanks,
Iavor

try this (worked for me today on eclipse 3.2):
1. add PDT update site.
2. in the software manager select PDT and Calisto discovery.
3. when you get the list of packages, select only PDT (not the SDK).
4. click on "select required", Eclipse should add EMF and its dependencies.
5. install.

Yes. This exactly confused me - that the the PDT passed to the Updater
depends on things that are not accessible by the Updater. Isn't this
kind of bad practice?
Thanks, however, for the tip. This saves really a lot of time.

With Europa it was very easy to install PDT - everything is there. The
only problem is that before you press the button to select the required
packages - you must open the Europa tree. Otherwise it does not work.
Let me know if you have difficulties.

I just gave up on updating the original eclipse I had installed (deb
package installed with apt-get in etch). No matter what I did I couldn't
get wst installed. Kept wanting things like xerces which is phased out
anyway so I deinstalled and installed the all in one package. Just now
got it running. Was hanging on the splash screen and wouldn't start. No
error messages at all just hangs. Now, all of a sudden, it works. Really
strange this package.
