update site aggregator [message #278987] Tue, 11 January 2005 13:00 Go to next message

is there a way to aggregate multiple update sites into one, without
mirroring?

i tried aggregating http://www.oxygenxml.com/InstData/Eclipse/site.xml and
http://jboss.sourceforge.net/jbosside/updates/site.xml by creating my own
xml at http://dns.flarion1.com/eclipse/site.xml, but eclipse choked on it
and in the end didn't wind up installing anything. it looks like even though
i specified absolute URL's of the vendors in my site.xml, eclipse didn't use
them in looking for subsidiate resources.

so basically in this case i'm looking to create a virtual 'update site' that
actually just aggregates the oxygenxml and jboss-ide plugins, so that my
coworkers and i can use a common set of plugins without each of us having to
enter all those url's in manually.

any ideas?

thanks,
mike

If you merge the contents of the two site.xml files, you need to also add
<archive> elements for all the plug-in jars. Do the same for the nested
features, if any.
