Hi,
what are the official hardware requirements, especially RAM size for
Eclipse?
I'd like to know it for Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
Thanks for your help.

This depends heavily on what you want to do with Eclipse. Lots of people add
plug-ins on top of Eclipse to add functionality.
Eclipse is really a platform, and the specification of minimum RAM
requirements are left up to product vendors.
Most recommendations I have seen suggest around 512MB (it is hard to find a
decent machine with less memory). I just checked my Eclipse development
instance with a dozen plugins in it. It uses 300MB. If you want to self-host
eclipse, or run a product like Rational Application Developer (with >1000
plugins), you will want 512MB minimum.
Again, it depends on what you intend to do with your eclipse installation.
