AbstractTextEditor menu items not updating when embedded in a MultiPageEditorPart - help! [message #277117]

I have created a text editor that extends the AbstractTextEditor in the
org.eclipse.ui.texteditor package. When this is opened as a single editor
and has the focus, it automatically updates the menu actions that I have on
the main menu bar (cut, copy, paste, undo, find, etc.). However, when the
same editor is used in a Page of a MultiPageEditorPart, the menu items are
not updated when it has the focus. Can anyone help me to fix it so that the
menu actions are updated?
