Hi there,

this might be a noob question, but the usual way to change the splash
screen I'd like to avoid.

I have a vanilla Luna and want to change the splash screen. Most howtos
in the web state that you can simply change the splash.bmp in the
org.eclipse.platform.<version> folder in the plugins folder.

However, there seems to be very strange behaviour with some target
editor functionality if you change a bundle manually and this alter some
checksums of the bundle. See
https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/t/240642/

So resolving a PDE target platform suddenly fails with strange error
messages when changing the splash-screen within the official platform
bundle.

So I'm seeking another way to change the splash screen. As its location
is referenced in the config.ini File of Eclipse I thought I could simply
change the folder in the ini-file in which to look for the splash, but
it seems not to work.
Any idea?

Cheers,
Hauke
