Hello,
I've been using eclipse for for some time now (over a year) and have
finally gotten into a situation where the work-arounds I know won't work
after a crash.
- tried ./eclipse -clean
- tried a completely new download and install
I was working on some java files (java perspective) for several hours
and eclipse crashed.. thereafter I could not get it started again.
There is a workspace that I use for php projects... that one is the only
one that works fine.
If I try to create a new workspace or try to use a newly downloaded
version of eclipse, it crashes with a message:
An error has occurred. See the log file
/home/rgeddes/workspace-j/.metadata/.log.
here's what I'm seeing in the .log file...

I think I just resolved my problem:
I discovered that I had 2 versions of xulrunner on my system:
xulrunner-1.9.0.10
xulrunner-1.9.1~b4 (I think this is a beta)
I removed the 1.9.1~b4 version
don't know how it got in there... but getting rid of it seems to get me
back into my java workspaces and back on track.
After finding many reported problems with xulrunner and eclipse, is
there an alternative to using xulrunner in eclipse?
Also, I found a suggestion that says that this option:
-Dorg.eclipse.swt.browser.XULRunnerPath=<path to xulrunner>
will force eclipse to use a specific xulrunner. That did not work for
me... did I make a mistake on this?
Thanks,
Richard
