I am rather new to PHP development but I have determined that I want to use one of the PECL extensions (pecl_http). I have successfully install the extension to my development environment and have created an example which works in unit testing (phpunit & MakeGood). What is not available is the Code Assist features through Eclipse (Luna in my case).

I started to create the appropriate .php file and listed the directory where the file is located as a external library source. This works as a crude work-around but I was wondering if there is a better source (more official source) that I could use or should use.

My development environment is
Eclipse Luna
Debian Wheezy
PHP 5.4.4
pecl_http-1.7.6
