Building a data acquisition system [message #1477516] Mon, 17 November 2014 19:10 Go to next message

Hi,

I am thinking of using Eclipse/Java to build a data acquisition system. This system will need to display scatter plots. I have never used Eclipse before and was after some advice on the best method/tools to do this.

Am I right in assuming I'll be creating an RCP application?

What is the best plotting library? I will need the ability to display multiple traces at once, zoom, and allow the user to select regions on the plot using the mouse.

Is there a GUI building tool that I can use to speed up this process? Window Builder perhaps, but can I use any of the plotting libraries with Window Builder?

What about e4? Should I be using this project?

Thanks

Hi D L,

I think you're on the right track with RCP and WindowBuilder. Hopefully someone will come along with more insight to help you get going.

A great source for starting out is the Vogella site ... plenty of tutorials there.
