We are in the process of migrating our application from Jboss 5 to Jboss EAP 6.3. In our older application, we have birt reports which run on birt version 2.3.2 and we are trying to upgrade them to newer version and try to get them running in our application. As a start, I tried testing them with standalone birt.war application in the following environment.



Hibernate 4.3.1



Jboss Tools - 4.1.2



Eclipse Kepler - 4.3



Birt Version - 3.7.2/4.2.2/4.3.2/4.4.0



The report has a hibernate data source defined and all the data sets are defined using this hibernate data source config. The related data source has also been defined in the jboss eap runtime. With all the setup complete, I deployed birt.war runtime on jboss and tried accessing the report with correct parameters. I keep getting this error, every time i try running the report either using standalone birt.war or in my Eclipse report designer.

Where does this Hibernate ODA come from? Where are you placing the jars for it? Have you successfully used it to design a new report in the new version of BIRT you're using?

I had made a mistaked and placed a earlier version of hibernate oda jar in the birt WEB-INF lib. The reent birt versions dont come with the jars.

I tried doing this again with fresh eclipse install (luna) and i can see that there is no option to add hibernate data source. ANd upon researching for a good couple of weeks, I found that scripted data source with backing POJOs are used for reporting needs instread of hibernate data sources.

Honestly it will take me a month to rewrite all my reports to support scripted data source.

Any thoughts on this ?
