HI I just had a look at the dynamic profiles. But I seem to go all
wrong. When I export a datasource profile and change the connection
properties in the file the data source explorer recognizes it but the
data source based on it isnt changed.
any hints ?

Hi Thomas,

What version of BIRT are you using? In my simple testing with BIRT
2.2.0, mine worked. I exported my connection profile to a file (not
encrytped), and then used that connection profile for my BIRT data
source. When I change the database URL in the text file, the next run
of the report uses the new data. I did not try to change anything else,
like the driver, username or password.

Ok got it working now. But the absolute Path to the profile store sucks,
how will I deploy that to a production machine ?

Is there a way to give a relative path ?

I have spring starting jetty starting birt runtime. An http URL would be
great.

Hi again Thomas,

I could not get a URL to work, however, you can have more control in the
property binding tab. There you can control the location of the
connection profile with an expression. I created a simple example to
try this out that uses a parameter to control the location of the
connection profile. I uploaded it to
http://www.birt-exchange.com/modules/wfdownloads/singlefile. php?cid=2&lid=251

I put a simple readme.txt in there with a few steps to use the example.
Let me know if a step is missing since I haven't tested it on another
machine.
