Java Jogek.ER Malware in current Snapshot? [message #1468148] Mon, 10 November 2014 11:13 Go to next message

Hi!

While I was working with eclipse yesterday, my Avira Antivirus-Scanner reported the malware (JAVA/Jogek.ER) when accessing
"http://download.eclipse.org/recommenders/models/luna/jre/jre/1.0.0-SNAPSHOT/jre-1.0.0-20140604.182326-1-call.zip".

Is this a false-positive or do I have to worry about it?

With kind regards,
Bastian

This is a false positive. Interestingly, another user has reported this quite recently as well, but in his case Avira "detected" a different piece of malware: EXP/11-3544.DZ.1: <https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/t/832521/>

Anyway, the file contains no executable code, only data used by Code Recommenders to make its recommendations; you have nothing to worry about.

For the record, the latest Avira signature update should no longer detect a "virus" in our recommendation models. See here for the VirusTotal results.
