A co-worker set up per-project compiler settings for a project. As a
result, the file .settings/org.eclipse.jdt.core.prefs was created in the
project directory, and this new directory and file were both checked into
cvs.
When I did an update, I got them. This did not enable "Use Project
Settings" for the compiler options, so I selected it myself via the
project properties.
However, eclipse did not use the settings in the .settings directory.
Instead it created for me a new file
metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.core.resources/.projects/PROJ_ NAME/org.eclipse.jdt.core/.jprefs
and used it instead. This file, unlike the other, is not shared via CVS.
When does eclipse use one or the other? And can I request that it use one
over the other?
(We collectively use eclipse 3.0 on either osx and winxp.)
