Hi,
The plugin subclipse is included and activated by default. I don't want
it. I cannot find out how to disable it.
I found something on the web(see the link below), which is consistent
with what I remembered, but in version 3.4, next to Help -> Software
Updates is "...", not an arrow. When I click "Software Updates", it
brings "Software Updates and Add-ons". There is no "Manage Configuratin"
available.

Thank you very much.

If you look at the Software Updates GUI, you should notice that there is
an "Installed Software" tab, and on that, an "Uninstall" button. Select
the plugin(s) you want to remove and use that button.
Hope this helps,
Eric

I followed your instructions. However, under the tab "Installed
Software", no matter which one I highlighted, the button "Uninstall.."
is always grayed out.
I am using Eclipse installed in Linux server by the superuser. Every
developer use it. We don't have individual Eclipse installation.
Previously, using version v3.2 and v3.3, I can enable/disable any
plugins by myself. I can also download any plugin just for myself to
use, not affecting other developers.
I don't understand why the "Uninstall.." button is always grayed.

I've gotten a pre-packaged eclipse with some plugins installed, such as the sonar plugin which seems to interfere with the maven import wizard.
Trying to get rid of the sonar plugin, I've also noticed, on windows, that the uninstall option on the sonar plugin is disabled, as well as on may of the pre-bundled plugins such as easy shell and others.
Permissions, ... I would be very surprised to see that there is any lack of permissions to do anything on the eclipse installation folder.
In fact my user has taken ownership of the full folder hiearchy where eclipse is placed. This has gotten to the point where on the eclipse folder, not only my users, but all users, have full folder permissions everywhere given recursively to all the directory hierarchy: plugins, dropings, etc... you name it.
Running eclipse.exe as administrator also has no effect.
This pre bundled eclipsed shows the uninstall button disabled on every single plugin. To get rid of sonar plugin and get the import mvn project wizard, I saw no alternative than to search the dropins folder for anything named sonar, and move them out.
Any suggestions on what else might be experimented to get the uninstall button to stop being disabled on a plugin:
after > properties, > security > Advanced > change owner your user +
> propertireis > all LoggedInUSers > give Full Control
I see little else that can be done to make the eclipse folder hierarchy more permissive.
NOTE: this is on eclipse mars.
Thanks.

Hi,
It is an company internal eclipse release, with, as you can well image, the mandated formatter settings, recommended plugins, and all of that type of configuration already built in, so that everybody's code looks as uniform as possible.
Many thanks for your feedback.
Your reply makes it clear why I find it hard to uninstall built'in features.
Kind regards.
