is ther any Workflow engine in epf? [message #25931] Tue, 26 December 2006 07:12 Go to next message

Hi,

I am Srinath, a s/w developer from india. for the past few days I was
working with Eclipse Process Framework Composer for the pupose of some
workflow related things.

The doubt which i have is, whether it is possible to design a dynamic
workflow(Not just a visual presentation) which will execute the workflow for
my buisiness process. That means, for example, If i designed a workflow mdel
in epf, it should execute the events dynamicaly like, when my colleage
submitting a request, this workflow should get activate and execute and to
return some result or something like that. One example is like Active BPEL
engine.

Or all i can do is creating an overall workflow as an HTML based output??

Any help will be appreciated!

Regards,
Srinath

Supporting a formal workflow language is currently not in scope of the
current EPF Committers. However, we would welcome such a contribution to
the project. We have some ideas how this could work, but no one has
committed to it, yet.

Dear Srinath, we are also working on this topic, the enactment/execution
of process models modelled with SPEM. For the moment, we are doing
research on different process enactment approaches (extending SPEM
metamodel, associating a BPEL model to a process model defined in SPEM and
so on).

Maybe we can discuss, at least, about what is the best way (or more
suitable) for process enactment in EPF. We will be pleased to read your
approach on that. Can we start with the discussion on this topic?

Thanks,

Aitor Bediaga

Hi Srinath,

One R&D we are trying to achieve is....reading the EPF XML and enacting
using Microsoft Workflow foundation. But it's not plug & Play as of
now...we are doing to lot of customization and development effort involved
to achieve this..

Hi Sarav, I'm happy to hear someone who is interested in process enactmen
more than only process definition. Why you have used Windows Workflow
Foundation? I have been searching for an open source workflow for Eclipse,
and seems there is no one, yet.(Only a proposal for building a java
workflow for Eclipse)

How can we connect for example ActiveBPEL workflow engine with models
defined in SPEM? Is it possible? We are trying to "connect/associate" SPEM
diagrams to BPEL ones.

Any comment?

Thank you very much.

Aitor.
