Editing Java comments, Eclipse auto corrects every 'th' into a Greek theta.

How can I turn this feature off?

That sounds like it's being caused by something else on your computer - a
keyboard driver, perhaps?

Please be much more specific about what OS, what version of Eclipse, what
hardware, what other software you have installed, whether you have any
non-English language features installed on your computer, what
troubleshooting steps you have already tried, etc.

What language did you choose for spell checking? You can either disable
spell checking entirely (see 'Spelling' preference page) or you can set
the number of suggested proposals to 0 (same pref page).

Spelling was set to English.

For the record, someone pointed me to a second, somewhat hidden, setting.

Right clicking in the edit window gives an 'Input Methods' menu.
The selection somehow got set to IPA. Setting it to 'default' fixed the
problem.

(I'd encourage an Eclipse maintainer to add this to the Preferences dialog.)
