building workspace [message #258093] Wed, 14 January 2009 02:12 Go to next message

Hello,
I have Ganymede running (3.4.1).
When I start eclipse it immediately starts building the workspace, and
during that time it is pretty much stuck - why is it building the workspace
every time it starts, and why is it unresponsive while doing so?

Thanks,
Zohar.

Do you close Eclipse gracefully? If so, Eclipse doesn't build your
workspace every time it starts.

If you reboot your system without previously close Eclipse, then this is
something like an abrupt close of Eclipse, so it might cause a full
workspace rebuild on the next start.

Another case in which Eclipse may rebuild your workspace whenever it
starts can be caused by problems on your projects classpath: have a look
at your Problems view.

Hope this helps.
Mauro.

Thanks for the reply.
What is considered an orderly exit (on windows)?
Zohar.

Hitting the "Exit" button and waiting for Eclipse to completely shut down.
