Is there a way to set default text editor encoding to UTF-8 ? [message #254784]

Hi,

Does any one know how I can set the default text editor encoding for Eclipse
2.1.2 to UTF-8 programmatically ? I want to do this the first time Eclipse
initiliazes the workspace directory so that for a new installation, I'll
always have it in UTF-8.

In general, how can I modify the default settings of a new Eclipse
installation ???

Programmatically, you can set the same preference set when using the
preferences dialog: ResourcesPlugin.PREF_ENCODING. Or you can have it set
as default from scratch by using the plugin_customization.ini file. See
