Package updater fails consistently [message #254410]

Hi,

I get a message similar to that below anytime I try to use the updater to
update any Eclipse plugin package, including eclipse itself:

Unable to complete action for feature "EPIC" due to errors.
Verification of feature unsuccessful. Installation cancelled. [zip file
closed]

The problem is not a permissions problem because even when I try to do the
update in my home directory (~/EclipsePlugins) I get the same error.

No idea where to look. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

That looks like a corrupted feature/plugin jar.
If you suspect a bug, open a bug report on Platform Update and provide a
simple test case.
