create parametrized templates with Papyrus [message #1427743] Sat, 20 September 2014 14:31 Go to next message

Hello,

I am relatively new to Papyrus. I am building a tool using papyrus UML models, yet I need to create some additional parametrized template models and I would like to ask whether this is really supported by Papyrus and whether there is any tutorial on that or where I could find any examples.

There is a link in an older post that seems to ask for credentials to get access on a tutorial about papyrus templates so I did not manage to get access on this

Thanks,
Paraskevi

Hi, Paraskevi,

By "parameterized template" model, do you mean (a) a model containing
elements that are templates (TemplateableElements having
TemplateSignatures) exposing ParameteredElements as TemplateParameters,
or (b) a model deployed in a plug-in that is used as a stencil for
creation of new models in the user's workspace, for which the user is
asked at time of copying the template for "blanks" in the model to be
"filled in" ?

To my knowledge, (a) is fully supported by Papyrus but (b) is not. The
templates made available by plug-ins to the New Model Wizard are copied
as is into the new model and there is no provision for substituting any
user-provided data into them.

HTH,

Christian
