Getting Eclipse to run [message #1425931] Wed, 17 September 2014 22:34 Go to next message

I have installed Eclipse and Java Development Kit. I have also added the path to javaw.exe in the eclipse.ini file but still an error occurs on opening. Can you assist.

What's the error? Have you checked https://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php/t/198527/ ?

Thanks for the prompt reply. It appears to be related to the eclipse.ini file. An error 13 comes up with a lot of text from that file. I have attached a screen shot
Thanks again

Don't use MS word to post screen shots; upload them as standard images (png, jpeg, etc) if you want the most people to help.

Thanks for the advice. I have attached a jpeg image of the error that is generated when I try to run eclipse. As I said in a previous response it appears to be related with the contents in the eclipse.ini file.

Not sure why it's in ProgramData, but the most frequent cause of error 13 is a 32/64-bit mismatch between the installed Java and downloaded Eclipse. You can check whether it's actually a 64-bit Java by running its java.exe, from a Command Prompt window, with the -d64 argument, e.g. java.exe -d64

Thanks for the prompt reply. You are correct it was a 32/64 bit mismatch. Once I downloaded the correct 64 bit software I am off and running.
Thanks again
