Newsgroup Search Working? [message #252470]

I haven't used the newsgroups in a while but last week I tried to use the
new Google search and it does not seem to be working correctly.

I go to a newsgroup through Firefox and can find the list of newsgroups at:

http://www.eclipse.org/newsportal/

When I enter the newsgroup and then put in search words in the top right
corner where it says "Search this group" to try and search the group I get
no search results back. All I have in my browser is another search page
for entering search words. If I try to search in this page I'm given
results for the entire Eclipse web site, not just the newsgroup I want to
search.

Am I the only one with this problem?

Do I need to change a setting?

Looking at the URL generated by the search it seems fine, for example
doing a search on 'install' in this newsgroup looks like:

http://www.eclipse.org/search/search.cgi?q=install&cmd=S earch%21&form=extended&wf=574a74&ul=%2Fnewslists %2Fnews.eclipse.newcomer&t=5&t=News

Any help would be appreciated,

this. It's really quite annoying to have the web site's functionality
degrade, especially when it makes it harder to find answers to questions
that have already been answered. Eric provided an approach in that bug
which I haven't tried. Maybe if more folks voted for it that would
help. (Of course someone providing a patch to fix it would be better.)
