High CPU on Ubuntu [message #251170] Fri, 03 August 2007 16:14 Go to next message

Hi, I need your help please...

I'm running Eclipse Europa with Birt 2.2 on Ubuntu Feisty.

The processor usage goes to 100% everytime I switch (click) between
fields with Data Source and field without Data Source.

I tried both the all-in-one bundled and the Framework, but no different.

FYI, my system is:
Pentium M Centrino 1.6Ghz
2GB DDR

My eclipse.ini:
-showsplash
org.eclipse.platform
--launcher.XXMaxPermSize
128M
-vmargs
-XX:PermSize=256m
-XX:MaxPermSize=256m
-Xms256m
-Xmx256m
-Dosgi.bundlefile.limit=100

I've switch both the -Xms and -Xmx to 512m, but the problem still persist.
I've also switch between jdk/jre 1.5 and 1.6 and still no difference at all.

Anyone using Linux (or Ubuntu) having this problem?
Is this problem also happen in Windows?

Please give me your thought, thank you.

Best Regards,

Sutanto Kurniawan.

I'm sorry, I forget to mention, the CPU goes 100% for 1-2 minutes, and
the report designer stop responding at the time.

The data source I'm using is the sample data source, bundled with Birt
(the Customers table).

Hi Naresh, thanks for your reply.

I've tried your suggestion, also try to modified the memory amount, but
still no difference.

I tried in Windows, and it run smoothly, using default eclipse.ini.

Is this because I'm using a Debian based distro?
Or is this happed on another linux distro?

Well, I'm gonna tried on my openSuSE box...

News, it seems everything allright on openSuSE, no CPU usage, and
performance is acceptable.

Anyone have any idea what cause this?

There are known problems with SWT and printers. Please take a look at
the SWT newsgroup there are various postings about this. Maybe this is
the cause of 100% CPU usage.
