I have been using eclipse as my development software for some time now. A
few weeks ago I needed to set up a development machine so I used eclipse.
It was working fine for a while and then it started to freeze
periodically. I will be typing then it will freeze for 5 to 15 seconds and
then be fine again. I have put up with this for a couple of weeks in an
attempt to find a pattern but have fail. It is drving me MAD. Sometimes
its quite a time between freeze and sometimes its just 15 or so seconds
then it will freeze again. And it happens when I do anything. Save, type,
click, etc. I have installed the latest JDK 1.6 with no success.

Does anyone have any experience with this problem? Can someone help me
before I lost my head?

Pay particular attention to the -XX:MaxPermSize=128M bit.

I wonder if there is a networking issue. Perhaps one of the components
(WTP? Mylin?) is trying to access schemas or bug databases over the
network?

Your post is not entirely clear about what the difference is between the new
and old development machines. That would be helpful information. Also it
would be good to know what OS you are on, and what Eclipse components you've
installed.

Make stack dumps while it freezes and check whether it's at the same
location. Then file a bug report.
